Control the curve

Edges & turns

Learn how blade edges make every curve, change of direction, and controlled transition possible.

Every skating element begins with a confident edge. Skaters use the inside or outside edge of each blade to create clean arcs, transfer weight, and change direction with control.

Moves in this family

01

Forward & backward edges

Inside and outside edge patterns build balance, knee action, and a clear curved tracing.

02

Three turns

A one-foot change of direction that changes both edge and skating direction, leaving a “3” tracing.

03

C Step

A two-foot turn from forward to backward—or backward to forward—using the same edge.

04

S Step

A more advanced two-foot turn that changes both skating direction and edge.

05

Brackets, counters & rockers

One-foot turns that develop advanced body control, edge quality, and alignment.
